Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Thoroughly clean the area around the valve covers in order to prevent the entry of foreign matter into the cylinder and valve mechanism. After the valve covers are removed, put a clean cover over the opening in order to prevent the entry of airborne dust and abrasive particles.

Remove bolt (1) and the washer that holds breather assembly (2) in place.
Remove the bolt from the clip on the water pump cover (not shown).
Remove breather assembly (2) and the tube as a unit.
Disconnect wire (3) from the instrument panel.

Remove bolts (4) and the lockwashers. Remove valve cover (5) and the gasket. Installation Procedure

Apply Tooling (A) on the face of valve cover (5) and on the top side of the valve cover gasket.

Place the valve cover in position on the cylinder head. Install the bolts and the lockwashers that hold the valve cover in position. Tighten the bolts in a number sequence to a torque of 10.9 2.7 N m (96 24 lb in).

Connect wire (3) to the instrument panel.
Put seal (6) in position on the valve cover.
Install breather assembly (2) and the tube. Tighten the bolt in breather assembly (2) to a torque of 13.6 2.7 N m (120 24 lb in).
