Machine location of transmission oil drain valve assembly
The transmission oil drain valve assembly is located on the bottom of the transmission case and is accessible from the underside of the machine. Position a suitable container below the transmission oil drain valve assembly.
Remove the transmission oil drain plug from the transmission oil drain valve.
Attach a hose to an oil drain coupling. Install the threaded end of the coupling into the drain valve in order to unseat the internal drain valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Replace the transmission oil filter. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Oil Filter - Replace" for the correct procedure.

(1) Transmission oil filler cap
(2) Transmission oil level gauge
Remove transmission oil filler cap (1). The transmission oil filler cap is located near the articulation joint on the left-hand side of the machine.
Fill the transmission with oil. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the proper amount of oil.
Transmission oil level gauge (2) is located on the left-hand side of the transmission below the transmission oil filler cap and oil filler tube. Check the transmission oil level. The transmission oil level must be visible in the transmission oil level gauge before you start the machine. Note: The oil level varies significantly when the engine is stopped from when the engine is running. The oil level will be considerably higher than the operating range when the engine is stopped. The oil level should be above the middle of the gauge before the engine is started.
Clean the filler cap and install the filler cap after enough transmission oil has been added to the transmission in order to start the engine.

Open the large access door in the platform that is behind the cab in order to service the transmission breather. The transmission breather is located near the upper articulation bearing in the forward portion of this compartment. Remove transmission breather (3).
Wash the breather in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Allow the breather to air dry or use air pressure to dry the breather. Install the breather.
Close the access door.
Start and run the engine at low idle. Inspect the transmission
