General Engine data provides product support with Physical and Systems data (i.e. Part Number Consists, Engine Test Cell Data, As Shipped Consists, OT Specification Data, etc.)
GKN402 TMI: Engine and Component Performance
Engine Performance data is provided for standard Price List configurations and advertised power ratings, for specific business units (i.e. Truck, Industrial, etc.). Component Performance data is given for Price List engines, major engine components, and engine attachments (i.e. Auxiliary Pump Performance, Fan Performance data, Jacket Water Pump Performance data, etc.).
GKN404 TMI: Data Index
The Data Index lists and accesses most subject names and corresponding data elements in the TMI system. The Data Index will assist the casual user in finding specific information found in the TMI system.

A Computer Based Training (CBT) course has been developed to provide instruction for using the on-line Technical Marketing Information System. This course will enable students to understand the TMI system and immediately apply it. Consult the Technical Communications Group Newsletter or the 1991 Advertising and Training Manual for order information.
Help Screens
Help Screens are available within the TMI system for all inquiry, selection, and data display screens. The help screens are accessible using the "PF1" key on your keyboard. Each Help Screen provides a brief explanation of the inquiry, selection, or data display being viewed. The Help Screens also provide instruction on how to proceed from the screen display to obtain additional information or use the function keys to return to the inquiry or menu selection screens.
Technical Marketing Information (TMI) User Manual
A Technical Marketing Information (TMI) User Manual is available and can be ordered through Morton Corporate Literature (LEBQ0724). The TMI User Manual is a tutorial on the use of the on-line system. The manual contains detailed descriptions for all three Applications and their respective programs. The major sections of the manual are complete stand-alone references for engine performance data, product support information and general specifications data.
Personal Assistance
Personal Assistance is available for the TMI system through the Help Desk or the TMI Coordinator at Caterpillar. Both the Help Desk and TMI Coordinator are available to resolve questions and problems relating to the TMI system.

The concept of the TMI system is to use the most accurate, up-to-date, and complete data sources as practical. This involves using direct on-line data entry, data file transferring, and interfacing with other systems for information. The TMI system operates through the Caterpillar Network and functions under a Corporate Security System.
Since the TMI is a secured system, user's must have a current User ID and Password combination to "SIGN-ON." Consult your System Administrator for assistance in getting a User ID and Password to access this valuable resource.
