New filter mounting and filter element need to be installed on the products listed below. If the new mounting is not observed failure of the filter element may result. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 22Dec2006 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Remove and re-install the filter base as shown below. Replace the filter element.

Perform the following test to the check brake charging.
Install pressure gages at pump discharge and accumulator test ports - one is located at the pump and the other at the charge valve.
Verify at startup that the pump charges the accumulators to cut-out (1975 +/- 50 psi) within 45 seconds at low idle.
Verify that once cut-out is reached the pump pressure drops to standby (less than 200 psi) within one second.
Monitor the accumulator pressure and verify that when it drops to cut-in (1600 +/- 50 psi) that the pump pressure quickly increases and charges the accumulators back to cut-out in less than 9 seconds (at low idle).
Verify that at low idle, with the truck in park and the service brakes released, that the accumulator pressure drops from cut-out to cut-in in no less then 22 seconds.
