The electronic control module will not function properly if the control module has not been configured. Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) is used to access the configuration screen . A message on the Cat ET screen will give instructions that guide the user through the procedure. Refer to the manual that is provided with the Cat ET software for more information.

The electronic control modules are located at the rear of the cab behind the sound panel.

(2) Implement ECM Cat ET Configuration Procedure
Ensure that the key start switch is in the OFF position.
Connect the communications adapter to the computer.

(3) Location of the service connector that contains the Cat Data Link. The connector is located behind the operators seat to the left.
Connect the communications adapter to the diagnostic service tool connector.
Turn the key start switch to the RUN position.
Start Cat ET.
Cat ET will initiate communications with the ECMs on the machine.
Select the appropriate ECM.
Go to the "Service" Menu. Select "Configuration". Click "OK". Certain operations or characteristics can be changed for attachments or preferences.
