Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the Hydraulic tank into a suitable container for proper storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil (Steering) (Brake) - Change".

Remove panels (1).

Remove panels (3). Remove handrails (2).

Remove bolts (4).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to panel (5). The weight of panel (5) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb). Remove panel (5).

Attach a suitable lifting device to support (6). The weight of support (6) is approximately 40 kg (88 lb). Remove support (6).

Disconnect harness assembly (7). Disconnect hose assembly (8).

Disconnect harness assemblies (9). Disconnect hose assemblies (10). Remove tube assembly (11). Remove clamp (12). Remove hose (13).

Attach a suitable lifting device to hydraulic tank (15). The weight of hydraulic tank (15) is approximately 200 kg (440 lb). Remove hydraulic tank (15). Remove brackets (14).
