Put 5P-1730 Holding Fixture (7) in a vise. Then, tighten the vise.

(8) Retainer
Install retainer (8) onto the 5P-1730 Holding Fixture (7) so that the notch in the retainer aligns with the dowel on the holding fixture.

(9) Nut
Install nut (9), which is a part of the holding fixture, onto the threaded end of holding fixture (7). Tighten the nut against retainer (8) by hand.

Install bearing cup (3) and bearing cup (2) into pinion (1).
Install bearing cone (5) and spacer (6) onto retainer (8).
Install pinion (1) onto retainer (8).
Install bearing cone (4) onto retainer (8).
Put the lock into position, and install nut (10) onto retainer (8).

(11) 5P-0964 Spanner Wrench
While you slowly turn pinion (1), use the 5P-0964 Spanner Wrench (11) and a torque wrench to tighten nut (10). Tighten nut (10) to 70 15 N m (50 11 lb ft). Note: Rotate the bearing assembly while you are tightening nut (10). This will ensure the proper seating of the rollers.
Bend the lock so that nut (10) is held.
Remove nut (9).
Remove pinion (1) from holding fixture (7).
Perform Step 1 through Step 12 for all four of the differential pinions before you install the pinions into the housing.
