Problem
The existing engine compartment door latches may fail on certain CP563 and CS563 Compactors making daily preventative maintenance checks difficult.
Rework Procedure
1. Remove the existing latch, locking mechanism, and latches. See Illustration 1.2. Locate and drill the first mounting hole for the adapter plate. The hole should be located 169 mm and 35 mm from the inside corner of the 7X8770 and 7X8768 Side Engine Doors. See Illustration 2.3. Align the lG5220 Adapter Plate with the hole drilled in Step 2. Install the bolt to hold the plate in the correct position.4. Use the adapter plate as a guide for locating and drilling the other five mounting holes.5. Use the adapter plate as a guide for locating and marking the cutout for the latch. See Illustration 3. Remove the material for the latch cutout.6. Install the 1G5220 Adapter Plate, latch, and seal as shown in Illustration 4.7. Adjust the pawl and adjusting nuts so that, the latch and door close snugly against the stops. See Illustration 4.
