Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
Check the oil level of the hydraulic tank.
Look for air in the oil that is in the tank. Look for the air immediately after the machine is stopped. Use a clear container in order to get a sample of the oil. Look for air bubbles in the oil that is in the bottle.
Personal injury or death can result from improperly checking for a leak.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. Escaping air or fluid under pressure, even a pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue causing serious injury, and possible death.If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.
Check all oil lines, hoses, and connections for leaks and damage. Look for oil on the ground under the machine.
Remove the hydraulic filter. Check the hydraulic return filter element for foreign materials.
Shiny steel particles give an indication of pump failure or deterioration. Shiny steel particles give an indication of motor failure or deterioration.
Rubber particles give an indication of seal or hose failure.
Bronze colored particles give an indication of pump port plate failure.
Aluminum particles give an indication of pump group failure.Note: Whenever foreign particles such as rubber or metal are found, all the components of the following systems must be thoroughly flushed: propel system, conveyor system, auxiliary system and vibratory system. Each loop oil circuit must be independently filtered. Do not use parts that have been damaged.
Inspect control linkages for damaged components.
