Pressure Test For The Fuel Transfer Pump
The fuel transfer pump is located on the right side of the engine. The pressure test measures the output pressure of the fuel transfer pump.

(1) Outlet line (2) Inlet line (3) Priming lever
Disconnect the outlet line of the fuel transfer pump. Put a pressure gauge in the outlet of the fuel transfer pump. Loosen the connection of the pressure gauge to the fuel transfer pump. Operate the priming lever of the fuel transfer pump in order to eliminate air from the fuel transfer pump. When fuel, which is free of air, flows from the connection, tighten the connection.
Disconnect the electrical wires to the fuel shutoff solenoid.
Crank the engine for ten seconds. Record the maximum pressure. The pressure indication on the gauge should be in the following ranges:Maximum pressure ... 42 to 70 kPa (6 to 10 psi)Minimum pressure ... 31 kPa (4.5 psi)
If the pressure is less than the minimum pressure, the fuel transfer pump must be repaired or replaced.
Observe the amount of time for the maximum pressure that was recorded during cranking to decrease by one-half. If the time is less than thirty seconds, the fuel transfer pump must be replaced or repaired.
Remove the pressure gauge from the fuel transfer pump. Connect the outlet line to the fuel transfer pump. Loosen the banjo bolt on the fuel line of the fuel filter. Operate the priming lever of the fuel transfer pump until fuel, which is free from air, flows from the connection. Tighten the banjo bolt to a torque of 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Connect the wires of the fuel shutoff solenoid.
