Transmission mounted filters can be either spin on filters or cartridge type elements. Current designs use only one oil filter. However, some earlier designs have two oil filters. Only one oil filter is required. A single remote mounted oil filter is another option. The remote filter hoses attach to the front manifold and are used with a single spin on filter.The access cover for the suction screen and the magnetic filter is located on the bottom manifold of the transmission. The fine mesh magnetic suction screen needs to be cleaned with a petroleum-based solvent at every oil change interval.

Table 1 lists the filters used with different versions of the CX28 Transmission. The non-PTO option uses shorter filters. The front transmission manifold for the single spin on filter can also be modified to accept remote filters. These remote filters are used with the CX31 and CX35 On-Highway Transmissions.
