Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check the Coolant Level
Coolant Level
Result: The coolant level is OK.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: The coolant level is low.
Repair: Refill the cooling system. If leaks are found, perform the necessary repairs.
If the repair does not resolve the problem, proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check the Water Pump
A. Remove the water pump for inspection. Check for damage and/or excessive wear on the water pump impellers. Also, check for a buildup of corrosion.
Water Pump
Result: The water pump is OK.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: The water pump is NOT OK.
Repair: Repair or replace the water pump.
Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove".
3. Check the Coolant Flow Switch
A. Check the coolant flow switch for proper operation. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Coolant Flow - Test".

Result: The coolant flow switch is OK.
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
Result: The coolant flow switch is NOT OK.
Repair: Replace the coolant flow switch.
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
