Information:

Pressurized air can cause personal injury. When pressurized air is used for cleaning, wear a protective face shield, protective clothing, and protective shoes.
Use the following procedure in order to pressure check the water circuit and the air circuit of the aftercooler core.Checking for Leaks in the Cooling Water System
Remove the aftercooler from the engine. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly for further instructions.
Illustration 1 g01957659
(1) Outlet port for the cooling water (2) Inlet port for the cooling water (3) Location for pressure gauge
Plug outlet port (1) with a device that is capable of withstanding 241 kPa (35 psi).
Insert a pressure gauge in location (3) that is capable of reading at least 241 kPa (35 psi) into the port in the aftercooler.
Connect the air supply to inlet port (2) with a pressure regulator in-line between the source of air and the inlet port.
Make sure that the pressure regulator is completely closed off. Turn on air supply. Slowly bring air pressure to aftercooler core up to 207 kPa (30 psi). Once 207 kPa (30 psi) is reached, turn off the air supply to aftercooler core.
Watch for a drop in pressure on the pressure gauge. If pressure is dropping, listen for signs of air leakage in order to find the area that is leaking. Spray a mixture of soap and water around the suspected area in order to pinpoint the area of the leak.
If no pressure drop is noticed, the cooling water system of the aftercooler is ok. If pressure drop is noticed and the area of leak is pinpointed, make necessary repairs.Checking for Leaks in the Air System

(4) Inlet port of the air system (5) Location for pressure gauge (6) Outlet port of the air system
Plug outlet port (6) with a suitable device that is capable of withstanding 241 kPa (35 psi). The outlet port connects the aftercooler to the cylinder head.
Insert a pressure gauge in location (5) that is capable of reading at least 241 kPa (35 psi) into the port in the aftercooler.
Connect the air supply to inlet port (4). A pressure regulator must be installed in-line with the air supply.
