ExcavatorsOn 245 Excavators used in some applications, customers have desired a replacement for the boom speed control valve. Where this change is desired, the 3G6874 Check and Relief Valve Group can be installed in place of the complete boom speed control group, including the control cable and linkage. The cable and linkage are not needed because the 3G6874 Valve Group uses a valve with an orifice, and the boom speed is not adjustable when this valve is used.
Special Instruction Form SMHS7305, "Installation of 4V5841 or 4V5936 Increased Pressure Control Conversion Group and 4V5842 Stick Check Valve Lines Conversion Group", gives information to make this conversion. Since the 3G6874 Valve Group is a component of the 4V5841 Increased Pressure Control Group (Field Conversion), installation information is shown in the Special Instruction form. On 245 Excavators 95V1-470 and 94L1-254 that are equipped with a front shovel arrangement, two 3V9121 Angles are needed which are not shown in the Special Instructions. When the two tube assemblies for the left boom cylinder are connected to the new valve, the opposite end of the tube assemblies will be moved a little from their former position. The two 3V9121 Angles will permit installation of the clamps to hold the tubes in the new position where they connect to the cylinder hoses.
