Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove" .
Remove the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install" .
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove two bolts (2) and the washers. Remove shield (1) .

Loosen twelve exhaust manifold nuts (3) and remove exhaust manifold assembly (4) .

If necessary, remove twelve exhaust manifold nuts (3) and washers (5) . Remove three gaskets (6) and two brackets (7) . Remove twelve studs (8) .

Remove the front and rear manifolds (9) and (10) from the center manifold (11) .Installation Procedure

Install the front and rear manifolds (9) and (10) in position in the center manifold (11) .

Typical Example
If twelve studs (8) were removed, apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on both ends of the twelve studs and tighten the twelve studs to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb ft) .
Put three gaskets (6) , two brackets (7) and washers (5) in position on the manifold.

Typical Example
Put exhaust manifold nuts (3) in position on the manifold. Put exhaust manifold assembly (4) in position and tighten exhaust manifold nuts (3) to a torque of 47 4 N m (35 3 lb ft) .

Install shield (1) , bolts (2) and the washers.End By:
Install the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install" .
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install" .
