The following components are located inside the body of the pump: drive gear, driven gear and bushings. The two gears ride in the bushings. The bushings are lubricated by the oil that is pumped by the gears.The mounting flange is bolted to the auxiliary system hydraulic pump. The vibratory pump is driven by the auxiliary pump. The splines on the vibratory pump drive gear mesh with the splines on the auxiliary pump shaft.

When the pump rotates, oil from the hydraulic tank flows into inlet port (6). The rotating gears force the oil through internal passages in order to act against the following components: control valve, relief valve and dump valve. The oil flows through outlet port (1) into the oil lines. The oil is routed to the screed through the oil lines.Pressure relief valve (5) is pilot operated. The valve is a cartridge type valve. When the system exceeds maximum pressure, a spring inside the cartridge assembly is overcome and the relief valve is opened. When the relief valve opens, hydraulic oil flows back to the pump inlet port.Dump valve (4) is a relief valve that is pilot operated. The dump valve is set at a slightly lower pressure than pressure relief valve (5). This valve has a higher flow rate than the relief valve.When the vibratory control switch is in the OFF position, control valve (3) is not energized. Oil flows to the dump valve before the relief valve.The pressure rise overcomes the tension of a spring inside the dump valve and the dump valve opens. When the dump valve opens, the vibratory system oil is routed to outlet port (2).
