Information:

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
If the gear pump (charge) pressure falls below 1500 kPa (220 psi), the piston pump (auger) could cavitate. If the piston pump (auger) cavitates, damage to the piston pump (auger) could occur. When testing and adjusting the crossover relief valve and the pressure override valve for the auger system, do not allow the gear pump (charge) pressure to fall below 1500 kPa (220 psi).

Required Tools
Tool     Part Number     Description     Qty
A     198-4240     Digital pressure indicator     1
B     5H-4019     Cover     2    Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" before you start this procedure.Note: Two technicians are required in order to perform the adjustment procedure for the crossover relief valve for the piston pump (auger).
Prepare the auger for a stall. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Auger - Stall".

(7) Pressure override valve
Turn in the adjustment screw on pressure override valve (7) until resistance is felt.Note: Do not overtighten the adjustment screw.
In the stalled position, damage to the auger or damage to the auger hydraulic system can occur if the auger is operated for more than 10 seconds. Do not operate the auger continuously for more than 10 seconds when the auger is locked in the stalled position.

(8) Auger control switch
Run the engine between 1200 RPM and 1500 RPM. While the auger is in the STALLED position, push auger control switch (8) in the UP position in order to turn on the auger.
Adjust crossover relief valve (3) to 43000 1000 kPa (6250 145 psi).
Back out the adjustment screw on pressure override valve (7) past the original position. Adjust pressure override valve (7) to 39500 500 kPa (5750 74 psi).
