Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.

Use Tooling (F) in order to install ring gear and hub (10). The weight of ring gear and hub (10) is approximately 150 kg (325 lb). Install Tooling (E) in order to prevent tire movement.
Install shim pack (9A) (not shown) and retainer (9). Negative preload must be set. For the proper procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Wheel Bearings - Adjust" for the Scraper Power Train.

Install Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device onto planetary carrier (7). The weight of planetary carrier (7) is approximately 275 kg (600 lb). Install seal (8) (not shown). Partially install planetary carrier (7). Install driver (5). Install planetary carrier (7). Install bolts (6) .

Connect the brakes for the scraper. Install pin (1) to the brake actuator.
Rotate bolt (3) in order to move the slack adjuster upward. Tighten bolt (2) .

Remove Tooling (B) from the rear of the scraper.

Remove Tooling (A) .
Adjust the service brakes. For the proper procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Service Brakes - Adjust" for the Wheel Tractor-Scraper Air System and Brakes.End By: Install the axle shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Install".
