The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET)
Illustration 1 g00777826The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) is a software program that is used to access data. The service technician will use the ET to perform the maintenance on the machine. Some of the options that are available with the Cat ET are listed below:
Diagnosis of problems
Viewing diagnostic trouble codes
Viewing active event codes and logged event codes
View the status of parameters.
Clear active diagnostic trouble codes and clear logged diagnostic trouble codes
Perform calibration of machine systems.
Program the ECM (Flash). Programming is done with the "WINflash" program. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module - Flash Program".
Print reports.See Troubleshooting, "Determining Diagnostic Trouble Codes". Diagnostic information is accessed with the following drop-down menus:

The Chassis Test Mode feature is accessed using Cat ET under the Diagnostics/ Diagnostic Tests/ System Troubleshooting Settings tab. The feature is used to help with testing a machine while on an "in-ground" chassis Dynamometer Shifting.Conditions for Transmission to enable the Chassis Dyno Test Mode feature:
Engine RPM < 1000 RPM
Transmission is in Neutral
TOS = 0 RPM
No Active Diagnostic codesTransmission will exit the Chassis Test Mode override for the following reasons:
Key Switch is turned OFF
Override is disabled using ET interface
ET is disconnected from the ECMNote: Active Clutch diagnostics could result in unexpected gear shifting while in Chassis test mode
