Information:
Service Mode (Mode 1)
The Computerized Profiler Control ECM uses the display area on the ECM for showing diagnostic information to service personnel. For troubleshooting the electronic control system, service personnel must place the ECM in mode 1 (service mode). The service switches, located near the ECM on the machine, are used for changing the display modes of the monitor. For additional information, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Using Machine ECM to Determine Diagnostic Codes". The ECM detects diagnostic codes that occur with most inputs and outputs. A diagnostic code is detected when the signal (at the connector contact of the ECM) is outside a valid range. The ECM then records the diagnostic code. If the diagnostic code goes away (not present), the diagnostic code information remains stored for future reference. When the ECM detects a diagnostic code, the operator is informed that a diagnostic code is present. An alert indicator on the Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) will light when a diagnostic code is present. When the alert indicator is off, a diagnostic code is not currently present in the ECM. The alert indicator diagnostic code may be a category 1, 2, or 3 depending on the severity of the diagnostic code detected. Note: When certain diagnostic codes are present, the ECM will modify machine operation to provide limited operation, allowing the machine to limp home for further diagnosis. The diagnostics of the ECM are available to assist with the troubleshooting of detected diagnostic codes. A distinct number is used to specify each detected diagnostic code. The service code consists of two identifiers, CID and FMI. The diagnostic code is shown in the display area of the ECM.Component Identifier (CID) - The CID tells which component or system is faulty (front steering position sensor, propel lever sensor, rotor door switch, etc.). The CID is a three-digit code that is displayed in the readout area of the ECM. For a list of CID codes for the ECM, see Testing and Adjusting, "Troubleshooting Diagnostic Codes".Failure Mode Identifier (FMI) - The FMI tells what type of failure has occurred (voltage above normal, current below normal, abnormal frequency, etc.). The FMI is displayed after the CID and is preceded by an "F". For a list of CID codes for the ECM, see Testing and Adjusting, "Troubleshooting Diagnostic Codes".Service mode of the ECM allows service personnel to see and to troubleshoot the diagnostic codes that the ECM has detected. While the ECM is in service mode, the distinct number for any detected diagnostic code of the ECM is shown in the ECM display. When service mode is first entered, all detected diagnostic codes will scroll in the display area. For troubleshooting and clearing, the particular diagnostic code must be placed on-hold. When on-hold, the display area continuously switches between showing the CID and the FMI (second display) of the particular diagnostic code. When the Diagnostic Code Present Indicator (2) is on,
