Information:

Personal injury can result if the machine moves while testing the parking brake. If the machine begins to move during the test, reduce the engine speed immediately and apply the service brakes.
If the machine moved while testing the parking brake, inspect the parking brake components for wear or damage. Repair or replace the worn or damaged parking brake components as required before returning the machine to service.
Introduction
The following test is used to determine if the parking brake is functional. This test is intended to measure the maximum brake holding effort. The brake holding effort that is required to prevent a machine from moving at a specific engine rpm varies depending on the machine. The variations are the differences in the engine setting, in the power train efficiency, and in the brake holding ability.Test Preparation
ReferenceTest and Adjust, "Parking Brake Actuator - Adjust"Check the area around the machine. Make sure that the machine is clear of personnel and clear of obstacles.Make sure that the steering frame lock is in the STORED position. Not the Locked position.Test the parking brake on a dry, level concrete or asphalt surface. This test should not be on any loose surface such as gravel or soil.Fasten the seat belt before testing the parking brake.Test Procedure
Start the engine. Raise the bucket slightly.
Disengage the parking brake.
Engage the parking brake. Place the transmission direction and speed control in the SECOND GEAR FORWARD position. Place the transmission auto/manual switch in the MANUAL position.
The parking brake must hold machine stationary on level ground in SECOND GEAR FORWARD when engine is slowly accelerated up to 2000 rpm. If the machine does move, refer to Test and Adjust, "Parking Brake Actuator - Adjust".
Reduce the engine speed to low idle at 800 RPM. Place the transmission direction and speed control in the NEUTRAL position.
Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine.
