Dry nitrogen is the only gas approved for use in the accumulators. The charging of oxygen gas in an accumulator will cause an explosion. An explosion can be eliminated by using nitrogen gas cylinders with standard CGA (Compressed Gas Association, Inc.) No. 580 connectors. When nitrogen gas is ordered, make sure to order the cylinders with CGA No. 580 connectors.Do not rely on color codes or other methods of identification to tell the difference between nitrogen and oxygen cylinders. In any application, never use an adapter to connect your nitrogen charging group to a valve outlet used on both nitrogen, oxygen, or other gas cylinders. BE SURE YOU USE DRY NITROGEN (99.8% purity).

(S) Charge valve
Remove charge valve (S) from the accumulator.

(U) Charging kit
Connect charging kit (U) to the accumulator charging port.

(T) Plug
(V) Nozzle
Turn nozzle (V) and plug (T) anti clockwise to its end positions.

(W) Nozzle
Open the nitrogen tank by rotating nozzle (W) anti clockwise.
Adjust the tank pressure between 40 bar (580 psi) and 200 bar (2900 psi) as shown in Illustration 21.

(V) Nozzle
Open the nitrogen charging valve by rotating nozzle (V) clockwise.
Adjust the charging valve pressure to 40 bar (580 psi) and hold for 10 seconds.

(T) Plug
(V) Nozzle
Tighten plug (T) to 20 N m (177.0 lb in).
Close the nitrogen tank by rotating nozzle (V) clockwise as shown in Illustration 23.

(U) Charging kit
Unplug charging kit (U) from accumulator.

(S) Charge valve
Apply Loctite 243 to charge valve (S).
Install charge valve (S) to accumulator and tighten to 20 N m (177.0 lb in) as shown in Illustration 25.Work Took Assembly Procedure

(X) Retaining pin
(Y) Lock buffer
Using a drift, drive retaining pin (X) from the hammer housing. Remove lock buffer (Y).

(5) 524-9363 Chisel Tool
Lubricate the outer diameter of chisel tool (5) and the internal bushing using Atlas Copco chisel paste.Note: Cat Desert Gold NLGI 2 is the alternate to Atlas Copco chisel paste.
Install the custom work tool 524-9363 Chisel Tool (5) or 524-9365 Chisel Tool as per the requirement.
Rotate the work tool to spread the grease.
Mount the tool retainers one at a time.

Drive in lock pin (X) until lock buffer (Y) attaches in the lock pin groove.
