Remove tire and rim.
Remove axle shafts.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the steering and brake hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the steering and brake hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.

Install Tooling (A) to final drive (1). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). The weight of the final drive is approximately 130 kg (287 lb).Note: The weight of final drive (1) may vary according to the models.

Remove three bolts (2) from final drive (1).

Remove final drive (1) from wheel assembly (3).
Remove O-ring seal (4) from final drive (1).

Install Tooling (B) to wheel assembly (3), as shown. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B) and wheel assembly (3). The combined weight of the wheel assembly and the service brake is approximately 390 kg (860 lb).Note: The combined weight of the wheel assembly and the service brake may vary according to the models.
Remove bolts (5) and the washers.
Remove wheel assembly (3) and service brake (6).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove bolts (7) and the washers from brake piston (8).

Remove brake piston (8) from the axle housing.
Remove O-ring seal (9).
