Use Tooling (B) to loosen Packing nut (10). Rotate pinion (6) to remove plunger (4). Use a suitable spacer and pony rod (9) to remove plunger (4). Attach a suitable lifting device to plunger (4). Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of plunger (4).

Use Tooling (B) to remove packing nut (10). Remove packing nut (10), lantern ring (14), V-notch ring (13), header and pressure rings (12), and junk ring (11).

Remove wiper seal (15) from packing nut (10). Installation Procedure

Install junk ring (11), header and pressure rings (12), V-notch ring (13), lantern ring (14), and packing nut (10). Tighten packing nut (10) by hand.

Apply a thin layer of Tooling (C) to the outer surface of plunger (4). and inner surface of the installed packing. Attach a suitable lifting device to plunger (4). Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of plunger (4). Use a suitable hammer and a suitable brass punch to install plunger (4).

Install wiper seal (15) with the o-ring facing out towards the power end, into packing nut (10).

Use Tooling (B) to install packing nut (10). Install packing nut (10).

Rotate pinion (6) to align pony rod (9) and plunger (4).
Apply Tooling (F) to the threads of bolts (8). Install plunger clamp (7) and bolts (8).

Install suction cover seal (3) onto cover (2). Apply Tooling (C) to suction cover seal (3) before installing cover (2).

Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of retaining nut (1). Use Tooling (E) to tighten retaining nut (1) to a torque of 3254 N m (2400 lb ft).
