(39)Cutting Edges And End Bits
1. Raise and block under blade. Lower blade to blocks. Do not block blade any higher than necessary to remove cutting edge or end bits.Machine level, all equipment lowered, TRANSMISSION and BRAKE LOCK LEVER engaged and engine stopped. 2. Remove bolts for cutting edges or end bits.3. Remove cutting edge or end bit. Clean contact surfaces. 4. Use opposite cutting edge if not worn. Use new section if both edges are worn. 5. Use new end bits.6. Install bolts and tighten to specified torque. (See BOLT TORQUES FOR GROUND ENGAGING TOOLS.)7. After a few hours of operation retighten bolts to proper torque.(40)Ripper Tip And Shank Protector
Replace ripper tip and/or shank protector when worn close to shank.1. Raise and support ripper.Machine level, all equipment lowered, TRANSMISSION and BRAKE LOCK LEVER engaged and engine stopped.
Wear protective glasses when striking pin, to prevent possible injury to eyes.The pin may fly out when struck. This could cause injury to personnel.
2. If shank protector is worn, drive pins out and remove protector. 3. If ripper tip is worn, drive pin out and remove tip. 4. Clean shank and pins. 5. Install new tip and/or protector. DRIVE PINS IN FROM SIDE OPPOSITE PIN RETAINER.6. Install pins.(41)Track
If track was adjusted with sprocket teeth clean-readjust track if packing in the sprocket tooth area is present. Tracks should be adjusted under the same conditions in which the machine will be used. If packing conditions prevail on the job, the tracks should be adjusted with packing present.(42)Track Roller Cartridge Pins
Machine level, all equipment lowered, TRANSMISSION and BRAKE LOCK LEVER engaged and engine stopped. Observe roller pins for leaks. If leakage exists consult your Caterpillar dealer for inspection lubrication and, if necessary, repair instructions.(43)Equalizer Bar End Pins
Machine level, all equipment lowered, TRANSMISSION and BRAKE LOCK LEVER engaged and engine stopped. Observe equalizer end pins (one on each side of machine) for leaks. If leakage exists consult your Caterpillar dealer for inspection, lubrication and, if necessary, repair instructions.(44)Equalizer Bar Center Pin
Machine level, all equipment lowered, TRANSMISSION and BRAKE LOCK LEVER engaged and engine stopped. Observe equalizer bar center pin for looseness or unusual wear. If unusual wear exists consult your Caterpillar dealer for inspection and if necessary, repair instructions.(45)Fuel Tank
