Location of dial indicator to check movement in the joint.2. If vertical movement within the joint is greater than 6.0 mm (.23") and/or the seal lip or membrane are damaged, clean the parts and inspect for wear as follows.a. Remove the pin and measure the wear step. If the step is 2.4 mm (.09") or greater, the pin should be rotated so the least-worn surface is at the top of the joint. If the reduction in pin diameter is greater than 4.8 mm (.19"), the pin should be replaced. See Chart A for nominal pin diameters.b. Measure the inside diameter of the bushing. See Chart B for nominal bushing inside diameters. If wear exceeds 3.0 mm (.12"), replace the bushing. If the inside diameter of the bushing is acceptable, check the clearance between the outside diameter of the bushing and the inside diameter of the cups. If the clearance is greater than 3.0 mm (.12"), replace the bushing and the cups.c. After inspection and appropriate parts replacement, hand-pack the joint with grease as described and reassemble using new seals. Lubricate the joint and return it to service.
