8. Remove the reamer bolts from the spindle.9. Lift the flange off the spindle, taking care not to allow the bearing balls to scatter around. * The carrier flange comes out complete with the outer races of three roller bearings and the inner race of ball bearing.* Be sure to recover all bearing balls and set them aside as a group. 10. Using a paint marker, give match marks to the flange and spindle to indicate the position of spindle relative to flange, so that the flange will take the original position at the time of reassembly. * Bear in mind that the threaded holes in spindle for the reamer bolts and the reamed holes of flange were machined together during manufacture. Thus, if either spindle or flange has to be replaced, then both must be replaced by a kit (consisting of a spindle and a flange in combination). The kit is referred to as "spindle assy". 11. Pick out the bearing balls from inside the hub. There are 46 balls. 12. Using a flat lever and steel pipe (special tools), remove the outer race of the ball bearing from the hub. * Here is how to use the special tools: Lay steel pipe on gear B, insert flat lever tip into under the outer race, and prise the race just a little with the pipe serving as the pivot. Carry on this levering all around to force the outer race gradually off the hub, keeping the race trued up as it rises progressively. 13. From the flange laid on the bench, remove the outer races of roller bearings. 14. If the bearing with 46 balls (between flange and hub) has to be replaced, remove its inner race from the flange by driving it off with a pin punch and hammer. * Remove the inner race only when it has to be replaced.(17) Removing reduction gears 1. Remove the sub-assembly of gears A and B and crankshafts from the hub. * Take hold on the splined end of the crankshafts and lift the sub-assembly straight up.* This sub-assembly is not meant for disassembly. Handle it as a unit. Its disassembly and reassembly in field is sure to reduce the performance of the travel motor. 2. Remove the three outer races of roller bearings (for holding the crankshafts from the spindle). * The gear oil film between the outer race and the spindle might cause the race to resist the pull exerted by the fingers. In such a case, lightly strike the spindle at the center of the hole with the aluminum rod and hammer to shake the race loose.3. Remove the total 36 pins from the hub.(18) Unclamping 1. Turn the motor upside down.2. Remove the two clamps, thereby freeing the spindle from the hub.(19) Removing spindle 1. Place a clean receptacle under the hub.2. Run the two eye bolts into two threaded holes, locating
