(8) Gear assembly The oil pump is a single-section gear pump. The oil pump is positioned on the output end of the torque converter.The main components of the oil pump are cover (7), manifold (5), gear assemblies (2) and (8), and bodies (3) and (4).Drive gear (2) is connected to gear (1). Gear (1) is driven by the torque converter.

(9) Oil pump.
During operation, oil is pulled from the reservoir in the output transfer gear case. This oil is pulled through the magnetic screen to an opening in manifold (5). The oil flows to the lower part of bodies (3) and (4). The oil fills the spaces between the teeth of gears (2) and (8). Oil is pushed from bodies (3) and (4) as the gears turn. The oil flows through two outlet passages in manifold (5) to an oil line. The oil then flows to the transmission oil filters.
