OCP discrete I/O module
The OCP discrete I/O module can be installed on a package or in a remote location away from the package. The purpose of the discrete input/output (I/O) module is to provide auxiliary switch inputs or relay contact outputs. Up to four DIO modules can be used on the OCP accessory CAN data link. The DIO modules must be configured to unique "Electronic Control Unit" (ECU) instance numbers.Discrete I/O Module Features
The following list provides information about the features of the discrete I/O module:
Reads 12 discrete inputs
Sets eight "Form C" relay outputs
Converts between physical I/O and CAN data link commands
All channels are scanned in 100 ms
0V to 0.8V low-level input voltage range
3.75V to 24V high-level input voltage range
Inputs have internal pull-up resistors
LED to indicate communication network status
Ambient storage temperature range is −50° C (−58° F) to 120° C (248° F)
Protected against 95% humidity non-condensing, 30° C (86° F) to 60° C (140° F)
Retains all configured values in nonvolatile memory so that no information is lost when the module is de-energized
Configured on the accessory CAN data link using the Cat ET
Operates on the OCP Accessory CAN data links
Node address is automatically configuredSpecifications
Table 1 lists the specifications for the Input/Output Module.
Table 1
Input/Output Module Specifications
Operating voltage range 5 VDC to 32 VDC
Nominal voltage 12 VDC or 24 VDC
Over voltage capability 32 VDC for 1 hour at 85° C (185° F)
Ambient operating temperature −40° C (−40° F) to 70° C (158° F)
Resistive loads Rated for 3A at 30 VDC
Output relay contact ratings 2A @125 VAC/2A@30 VDC
Maximum current draw 400mA plus 50mA per energized relay at 12 VDC Note: Power supply inputs are protected against transient surges and short circuits. Power supply inputs are isolated from I/O modules.Discrete I/O Wiring

DIO modules can be programmed the use of the Cat Service Tool. Cat Service Tool can also be used to flash program DIO modules in order to update software. The service tool software must be installed on a Windows based personal computer. The Cat communication adapter must be connected between the PC and the CAN data link on which the target DIO module is connected. Note: The service tool may be connected to the OCP accessory data link service connector.Use the following steps to configure the DIO modules.
