Information:

Do not move truck without normal air pressure (low air pressure alarm off).
1. Be sure body is lowered, and hoist control is in FLOAT. 2. Emergency brake lever should be in forward position.
Make sure emergency steering is functioning properly. See Emergency Steering Test on page 14.
3. Extended Braking control lever should be in forward position. 4. Pull parking brake lever back to release brake and transmission control. 5. Move transmission control to desired direction and speed. 6. Depress accelerator.Emergency Brake System
1. If buzzer sounds or low air pressure light comes on, stop the truck. 2. To stop the truck, depress service brake pedal.
Be prepared for a sudden stop.
3. If the service brake will not stop the truck, pull emergency lever. 4. When truck is stopped, wait until air pressure returns to NORMAL. If air pressure does not reach NORMAL, have the air system checked.
A horn will sound when emergency brake air reservoir pressure drops below safe operating pressure. Brakes will then apply automatically and stop the truck. The emergency brake may be applied and released approximately 3 times with a dead engine, after which the emergency brake will remain applied.Always block wheels securely before leaving truck unattended. Air can bleed down resulting in brake releasing and machine moving.
In an emergency, the machine can be moved in 1st speed range with emergency brake applied. This may damage the emergency brake. Service emergency brake before operating the machine.
Testing the Emergency Brake System
Test operation of emergency brake system daily or at beginning of each shift.
1. Stop the engine when the air system is at normal operating pressure. 2. With front brake switch ON, pump the service brakes to decrease air pressure. The low air pressure warning buzzer and light should both actuate. 3. Apply the emergency brake control lever two times. At the second application, the emergency warning horn should sound.4. After the third application of the lever, the brakes should remain applied.5. Start the engine and fill the air reservoirs to operating pressure.Changing Gear Speed and Direction
Truck must be stopped, and engine at low idle, before changing direction. Operate engine between 1200 to 2200 RPM.
Do not exceed 2500 RPM or engine damage may result.
When under heavy load, upshift when speedometer indicator reaches maximum point of each color range. When under light load, upshift at about 1600 RPM. Downshift only when speedometer indicator is at the minimum point of each color range, and when downshift indicator light is on. Move transmission control with single quick motion.
Improper downshifting can cause sudden reduction in travel speed, and overspeeding of engine. Keep torque converter temperature gauge in NORMAL operating range.Never allow truck to coast downgrade. Keep transmission engaged.
