Remove the front slack adjuster. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Slack Adjuster (Front) - Remove". Note: The disassembly procedure is identical for both the right side of the front slack adjuster and the left side of the front slack adjuster. For simplicity, the disassembly procedure for only one side of the front slack adjuster is shown. Repeat this procedure for disassembly of the opposite side of the front slack adjuster.

Remove fitting (2) from front slack adjuster (1).

Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
Position the front slack adjuster in a soft jawed vise, as shown. Use Tool (A) in order to remove housing (3) from base (4).

Remove spring (6) and spacer (5) from housing (3). Remove O-ring seal (7) from base (4).

Loosen the cap on the end of housing (3) and remove piston assembly (8) from the housing.

Remove O-ring seal (9) from piston assembly (8).
Repeat Step 2 through Step 5 for the remaining side of the front slack adjuster.
