PLATE 6V3951 - Caterpillar

Do not attempt to straighten the ROPS structure. Do not repair the ROPS by welding reinforcement plates to the structure.If there are any cracks in the welds, in the castings, or in any metal section of the ROPS, consult your Caterpillar dealer for repairs.

This is a view of the Tube Assembly (1) that is located on the off-highway trucks.Note: The Tube Assembly (1) is a part of the ROPS support assembly.Use the following procedure to install the Tube Assembly (1) on off-highway trucks. This procedure replaces any previous procedure.
Park the machine on a level surface. Chock the rear wheels.

Place a jack under the front support assembly of the truck. Raise the machine. The tires should be touching the ground. There should be enough room for the installation of the Tube Assembly (1) .Note: Refer to your Disassembly and Assembly Manual for the truck weight.

Use a suitable lifting device to install the Tube Assembly (1) .

Clean the Shims (4) from any paint or grease.
Bolt one end of the Tube Assembly (1) into place. Install the Shims (4) into the other end. Secure the shims and the tube assembly.Note: Use the same number of shims that were previously used.
Install the Bolts (2) and Washers (3) .Note: Some truck models require bolts, washers, and nuts.
Torque the bolts to the proper torque. Refer to Table 1.
