System Operation Description:Use this procedure to troubleshoot the indicator lamps .The indicator lamps are located on the display.The ECM illuminates the lamps for a brief period after the keyswitch is placed in the ON position in order to run diagnostics on the lamp circuits. This also provides a visual check of the lamp's operation.

Remove electrical power from the ECM.

ECM (1) J1/P1 connectors (2) J2/P2 connectors
Thoroughly inspect the J1/P1 and thoroughly inspect the J2/P2 ECM connectors. Thoroughly inspect any connectors that are associated with the lamp circuits. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".

Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires for the lamp circuits.
Check the torque of the allen head screw on the ECM connectors. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for the correct torque values.
Check the harness and the wiring for abrasion and for pinch points from the display back to the ECM.Expected Result:All of the connectors, pins and sockets are completely coupled and/or inserted and the harness and wiring are free of corrosion, of abrasion and of pinch points.Results:
OK - The harness and connectors appear to be in good repair. Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - The connectors and/or wiring need repair.Repair: Repair the wiring and/or the connectors. Replace
