Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Test Preparation
Move the machine to an open area away from personnel and obstructions.
Park the machine on a surface that is hard and level.
Engage the parking brake.
Depress the service brake/transmission neutralizer pedal to apply the service brakes.
Disengage the parking brake.

Ensure that the STIC steering console is in the LOWERED position, and steering and transmission lock lever (3) is in the LOCKED position.
Attempt to steer the machine in a left and right direction. The machine should not steer.
Move transmission direction control (4) to either the FORWARD position or the REVERSE position. The transmission should not engage.

Move joystick control (6). The bucket should not move.
If the machine steered, the transmission engaged, or the bucket moved while testing, do not operate the machine until the cause has been corrected. Have a CAT® dealer inspect and repair the STIC steering lockout and the STIC steering control lock limit switch before returning the machine to operation. Personal injury or death can result from unexpected machine movement.
STIC Steering Console Lock Limit Switch - Test Procedure
Move STIC steering and transmission lock lever (3) to the UNLOCKED position.
Lift lever (1), and move STIC steering console (5) to the RAISED position.Note: The STIC steering lockout lever should move to the LOCKED position as lever (1) is lifted.
Use STIC steering control (2) and attempt to steer the machine in a left and right direction. The machine should not steer.
Move transmission direction control (4) to either the FORWARD position or the REVERSE position. The transmission should not engage.
Move joystick control (6). The bucket should not move.
Move STIC steering and transmission lock lever (3) to the UNLOCKED position.
Move STIC steering console (5) to the LOWERED position.Note: The STIC steering and transmission lock lever should move to the LOCKED position as STIC steering console (5) is lowered.

Move STIC steering and transmission lock lever (3) to the UNLOCKED position.
Open the cab door.
Use STIC steering control (2) and attempt to steer the machine in a left and right direction. The machine should not steer.
Move transmission direction control (4) to either the FORWARD position or the REVERSE position. The transmission should not engage.
