Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect hose (6) from water temperature regulator housing (1) .
Disconnect hose (3) from housing manifold (2) .
Disconnect harness assembly (7) for the coolant temperature sensor.
Remove bolts (5) .
Loosen studs (4) and remove water temperature regulator housing (1) and housing manifold (2) from the cylinder head.

Remove water temperature regulator housing (1) and gasket (9). Remove housing manifold (2) and gasket (8) .
Remove water temperature regulator (10) .
Remove lip seal (11) from the water temperature regulator housing.Installation Procedure
