78. Install the pins and springs (100) in the No. 4 clutch housing.
Install the bottom set of springs (99) with the rivet heads up. Install the top set of springs (99) with the rivet heads down. The center set of springs can be installed either way. The springs are installed in this position so the rivets can not fall into the transmission if the retainer cones off of the rivet.
79. Install four discs, three plates and springs (99) for the No. 4 clutch. Start and stop with a disc.80. Install retainer assembly (98) on the shaft.
Be sure the plugs are in the ends of shafts (102) before assembly. Be sure the rubber in the pins that hold shafts (102) in carrier is not damaged. If the rubber is damaged a replacement of the pins must be made.
81. Install the bearings in gears (104) for No. 5 carrier (101). Install gears (104) in the carrier with a washer (103) on both sides of the gears. Install shafts (102) and the pins that hold the shafts in the carrier. 82. Install bearing (106), in the carrier with notch (107) in the inner race of the bearing down as shown. Install spiral ring (105) that holds the bearing in place. 83. Fasten tool (C) and a hoist on carrier (101) and install it on the No. 4 clutch housing. Make sure all the springs are engaged in the holes in the carrier and the notch in the bearing in alignment with the dowel in the retainer assembly. Install the bolts that hold the carrier in place. 84. Install spiral ring (106) in the groove of retainer assembly (98).85. Install dowels (107) in plate assembly (108) 12.7 mm (.50 in.) above the outside surface.86. Install plate assembly (111) in its original position on the housing assembly with the counterbore up as shown. 87. Install pins (108) in the plate assembly.88. Install three discs (109) and two plates (110) for the No. 5 clutch. Start and stop with a disc.89. Install springs (112) in the plate assembly. 90. Install dowels (113) in No. 5 clutch housing (114). 91. Install ring (115) on No. 5 clutch housing. 92. Install ring (117) on piston (116). 93. Put piston (116) in position in No. 5 clutch housing (114) and use tool (D) to hold the piston in place.94. Fasten tool (C) and a hoist on No. 5 clutch housing (114).95. Put No. 5 clutch housing (114) on the plate assembly. Make sure the springs and the pins are in alignment with the holes in the clutch housing. Install the bolts that hold the clutch housing. 96. Install pins (118) in the No. 5 clutch housing.97. Install gear (12) on the carrier.98. Install plates (119), the locks and the bolts that hold gear (120) in place on the carrier. Bend the locks against the flat side of the bolt heads. 99. Install gears (122) and spiral ring (121) on the shaft assembly as shown.
