Illustration 3 g00710631The VIMS consists of a keypad (2), action lamp (3), and message center module (1).There are also three service ports for RS232 data link connectors. Port (4) is for a service tool. Port (5) is for a printer that can be used for a telemetry system. Port (6) is for using a service tool at ground level. The port is located behind the left rear tire.

Keypad (2) is used for entering information into the monitoring system.
Illustration 5 g00710654"OK" key (10) - This key is used for completing an entry and for acknowledging all events. This key can also be used to back up to the previous menu in the Payload Control System (PCS).Right arrow key (11) and left arrow key (12) - These keys allow the operator to scroll forward or backward through the available parameters. The left arrow key can also be used to erase the last character that was entered with the keypad."GAUGE" key (13) - This key changes the message center module to an analog gauge. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Parameters (VIMS Monitoring System)" for more information about viewing parameters."ID" key (14) - This key is used to enter the ID number of the operator."F1/Menu" key (15) - This key is used to display service codes (MID, CID, and FMI) when the message center shows a system event. Also, this key is used to display the actual value of a machine event such as the brake oil temperature. This key can also be used to access the main menu for the Payload Control System (PCS)."F2/Clear" key (16) - This key clears the current entry."F3/Delay" key (17) - This key is used to enter the delay code for the Payload Control System (PCS).Warning Categories (VIMS Monitoring System)
The monitoring system provides four warning categories. Each warning category requires a different level of action from the operator. When an event occurs, the warning category of the event will be shown in the lower right corner of the message center display.Note: Not all warnings for possible damage to machine systems or for possible personal injury can be acknowledged. “Acknowledge” only means pressing the "OK" key in order to inform the system of operator awareness.Warning Category 1
In this category, alert indicator (7) will flash. A message will be shown on universal gauge (8) and on message center display (9). The operator should be aware that a machine system needs attention.Press the "OK" key on keypad (2) in order to acknowledge a warning. Warnings will subsequently be silenced for a predetermined period. If the abnormal condition is still present after this time period, the warning will reappear.Warning Category 2
In this category, action lamp (3) and alert indicator (7) will flash. A message will be shown in universal gauge (8) and in message center display (9). A change in machine operation is required in order to avoid possible damage to the indicated
