Start By:a. remove elevator drive sprockets and speed reducer 1. Install speed reducer (1) on tool (A). 2. Remove snap ring (2) from the flywheel with tool (B). Remove bolts (3). 3. Remove cover (4) with tooling (C). 4. Remove seal (5) with tool (D).5. Remove the bearing with tooling (E). 6. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts and a hoist on container (7). Remove flywheel (6) and container (7). 7. Remove snap ring (8) with tool (B). 8. Remove the flywheel with tool (F). 9. Remove seal (9) with tool (D). 10. Remove snap ring (10) with tool (G).11. Remove the bearing with tooling (E). 12. Remove gear (11). 13. Remove carrier (12). 14. Drive the pins into shafts (13) with a hammer and punch. 15. Remove shafts (13), washers (14), and gears (15) from the carrier. Remove the pin from the shafts. 16. Remove two bearings (17) and ring (16). 17. Remove snap ring (18) with tool (B). 18. Remove ring gear (19). 19. Remove the three pins from the plate with a hammer and punch. Remove bolts (20) and the plate. Remove the pins from the output shaft. 20. Fasten a hoist to carrier (21) and remove it from housing (22). 21. Drive the pins into shafts (23) with a hammer and punch. 22. Remove shafts (23), washers (24) and gears (25). Remove the pins from the shafts. 23. Remove bearings (26). 24. Remove housing (22) with tooling (H). Remove bearing cone (27). 25. Remove spacer (28).26. Remove Duo-Cone seal (29) from the output shaft and housing (22). 27. Remove bearing cone (30) with tooling (J).28. Remove the two bearing cups and the spacer from housing (22) with a hammer and punch.Assemble Elevator Speed Reducer
1. Lower the temperature of the bearing cups and install the bearing cups and spacer in housing (22) with tooling (E). 2. Heat the bearing cone to a temperature of 135°C (275°F). Install the bearing cone (30). Before installing the Duo-Cone seals, see the topic, Assembly And Installation Of Conventional Duo-Cone Seals in this module.3. Install the Duo-Cone seals with tooling (K). 4. Install housing (22) on the output shaft. Heat the bearing cone to a temperature of 135°C (275°F). Install the spacer and bearing cone (27). 5. Install bearings (26). 6. Install gears (25), washers (24), and shafts (23).
Be sure the rubber in the pins that hold the shafts in the carrier are not damaged. If the rubber is damaged a replacement of the pins must be made.
7. Make an alignment of the hole in shaft (23) with the hole in the carrier. Install the pin with a hammer and punch. 8. Install carrier (21).9. Put the plate in position and install three bolts (20). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 138 to 160 N m (102 to 120 lb ft). Tighten the bolts so that the flat on the head of the bolt will allow for the installation of the retainer pins. 10. Install ring gear (19).
