Sleeve setting errors that are variable can also occur if the rubber washer, part of the sleeve metering calibration tool group is not holding the sleeve lever against the lower gauge surface. See Illustration 2. The former 6V4082 Washer could soften when exposed to calibration fluid or diesel fuel. This could prevent it from holding the sleeve lever against the gauge. The former 6V4082 Washer has been canceled and replaced by an 8T888 Washer. The new washer is harder and more resistant to softening in the calibration fluid or diesel fuel. Keep the rubber washer well lubricated with calibration fluid or diesel fuel to make sure that the washer holds the sleeve lever down. Special Instruction, Form SMHS7835 gives additional important information about the use of the 6V4141 Sleeve Metering Calibration Tool Group.3. Sleeve setting errors that are consistent can occur if the calibration tool is improperly machined. If consistent errors are detected, replace the 6V4137 Fixture.
