Operating Logic
Vibratory Mode Determination
The operator can enable or disable automatic operation of the vibratory system with display (3). Machine ECM (1) monitors the input signals from the display to determine the desired operating mode of the vibratory system. The ECM uses this input to determine the desired speed at which to start the vibratory system. The desired speed is mapped as a percent of maximum travel speed of the currently selected propel mode. This percent is applied to both the forward range and the reverse range. When the vibratory system is operating in automatic mode, the machine ECM only starts the vibratory system after the input signal from the propel lever exceeds the auto vibratory engagement percent stored in the ECM memory. The vibratory engagement speed has three selectable values: low speed, medium speed, and high speed. The vibratory control logic creates a hysteresis around the activation point and the de-activation point when the vibratory system is in the automatic mode. This hysteresis causes a slight difference in activation and de-activation speeds. When the operator moves propel lever (5) to the activation point, machine ECM (1) starts the vibratory system. The machine ECM continues to operate the vibratory system until the propel lever is moved toward the NEUTRAL position. At this point, the control logic will disengage the vibratory system according to a turn-off algorithm. This algorithm is based on the speed at which the propel lever is moved toward the NEUTRAL position. Quicker movements of the propel lever cause the vibratory system to disengage sooner. As long as the propel lever is not returned to the NEUTRAL position, the vibratory system can be restarted with a given acceleration. The disengagement and engagement parameters can be adjusted with the service tool.If the propel lever is moved back to the NEUTRAL position during automatic operation, the activation point of the vibratory system is reset to the saved start-speed value. When the vibratory system is in the manual mode, machine ECM (1) starts the vibratory system when propel lever (5) is out of the NEUTRAL position.Vibratory Drum Determination
Machine ECM (1) monitors the input from the drum select switch on keypad (4). When the machine ECM receives an input from the drum select switch, the ECM changes the drum selection. In these cases, the machine ECM sends a message to display (3) and to the keypad. The display shows the currently selected drum. The keypad illuminates the appropriate indicator for the currently selected drum. The machine ECM saves the currently selected drum as the new default 5 seconds after the last actuation of the drum select switch. The machine ECM defaults to the previously saved drum selection each time the engine start switch is cycled through the OFF position. The possible drum selections are: front drum, rear drum, and dual drums.Vibratory Frequency Determination
