Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Prior to assembly, check the taper on the auxiliary water pump shaft and the impeller. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS2688, "Installation of the 264-8897 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp ".

Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (14) in housing (6). Install the bearing joints at a 5 degree angle from the horizontal centerline of housing (6). Use Tooling (F) to install bearings (15) in housing (6). Install the bearing joints at a 15 degree angle from the vertical centerline of housing (6). Refer to Specifications, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Sea Water".
Place shaft (19) into housing (6) .
Install thrust washer (20) and bolts (21) .
Lubricate the bore of seal (13) with glycerin or equivalent. Place seal (13) into housing (6) .
Install O-ring seal (12) .
Connect housing (6) and housing (7). Align the marks and the bolt holes of the housings.
Lubricate seal group (11) with clean water. Place seal group (11) into housing (7). Ensure that the identification mark is oriented away from the seal group that is mounted on the shaft.
Use Tooling (D) in order to push seal group (11) on shaft (19) until the seal face makes light contact.
Install the spring on seal group (11) .Note: If impeller (10) has been balanced in the field, impeller (10) cannot be used.
Place impeller (10) on shaft (19) .
Apply Tooling (E) to the threads of bolt (16). Install washer (17) and bolt (16). Tighten bolt (16) to a torque of 370 50 N m (275 37 lb ft).
Install O-ring seal (18) .
Position housings (6) and (7) on housing (8). Align the marks and the bolt holes of the housings.
Install bolts (9) .
Ensure that the auxiliary water pump shaft rotates freely when the shaft is turned by hand.

Install the O-ring seals on dowels (4) .
Install O-ring seals (2) and coupling assembly (5) on auxiliary water pump (1). Use the following procedure to install coupling assembly (5) .
Position coupler shaft (26) in coupler spring pack (23). Position coupler shaft (26) and coupler spring pack (23) on the shaft of auxiliary water pump (1). Install bolts (24) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 130 20 N m (96 15 lb ft).
Position gear drive assembly (25) on coupler shaft (26). Install bolts (22) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 30 3 N m (22 2 lb ft).
Install coupler bearing cap (27) and bolt (28). Tighten bolt (28) to a torque of 30 3 N m (22 2 lb ft).
Install adapter (3) on auxiliary water pump (1)
