This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31182" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31182" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the November 8, 2006 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Parts Needed, Action Required, and Rework Procedure section.

PROBLEM
The 21" 193-3288 Damper Group needs to be replaced on certain 3508B Genset Engines with the 23" 1463740/">146-3740 Damper Gp. The 21" 193-3288 Damper Group can lead to reduced damper life and may exhibit v-belt flipping issues.

1. Remove 193-3288 Damper Gp. as outlined within the "Removal Procedure" in media number SENR6564.
Note: After removing the damper bolts from the unit check the bolts using the Reuse & Salvage Guide to ensure that the damper bolts taken out of the unit can be reused. Also reuse the 5P8250 washers for the damper reassembly.
2. Install 1463740/">146-3740 Damper Gp. as outlined within the "Installation Procedure" within the same SENR6564 publication.

A larger 23" damper needs to be installed on the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.
