1. Assemble gears (2) and (6), bearing cages (8) and (3) and bearings. Tighten all bearing cage bolts (7) and (4) evenly.2. Position housing in a vertical position.3. Rotate gears back and forth several times to seat bearings.4. Measure gaps (1) and (5) between housing and bearing cages.5. Add shims required to obtain 0.10 to 0.18 mm (.004 to .007 in) end play.6. Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 with shims.7. Measure end play of gears.8. If end play is less than 0.10 mm (.004 in), add shims. If end play is greater than 0.18 mm (.007 in), remove shims.9. Put lubricant on the lip of the seal (9). Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket in bore of cage (8) and let it become dry before the seal is installed. Do not put liquid gasket on the case of the seal.10. Torque for eight bolts (10) ... 410 50 N m (305 37 lb ft)
