Walk-Around Inspection
For your own protection, and maximum service life of the machine, make a thorough walk-around inspection before mounting the machine or starting the engine. Look for such items as loose bolts, trash build-up, oil, fuel or coolant leaks, condition of cutting edges, inflation and condition of tires.
Use a self-attaching air chuck and stand behind tread of tire when inflating.
1. With tires cold, check tires for proper inflation.
Operating machine with improperly inflated tires can cause accelerated tire wear or heat build-up. This can cause blow outs.
Contact your tire dealer for recommended air pressure for job conditions. 2. Observe differential oil level. Oil should fill sight glass. 3. Observe hydraulic oil level. With bowl lowered and ejector floor closed, oil should be between ADD and FULL marks on sight gauge. 4. Measure engine oil level. Level should be in SAFE STARTING RANGE on ENGINE STOPPED side of dipstick. 5. Check radiator coolant level. With engine cold, maintain level to within 1/2 inch (1 cm) of bottom of fill pipe. 6. Inspect air inlet screen for accumulation of dust and debris. Clean if necessary. 7. Observe air filter service indicator. Have air cleaner serviced if red band is locked in the visible position. 8. Check fuel level. Tank should be full at the beginning of a shift. 9. Drain moisture and sediment from fuel tank. 10. Drain moisture and sediment from 3 tractor air reservoirs and 2 scraper air reservoirs.
