(14) Sealing Plug (15) Flange
Place a sealing plug into any circuits not loaded with contacts. The sealing plug should be pushed into the wire entry end of the plug or cap cover until the flange on the sealing plug is firmly against the seal cover. Refer to Illustration 2.
When all the contacts have been locked securely into the housing assemblies, complete the assembly of the connector system by mating the plug assembly with the cap housing assembly or pc board mounted header until the connector latch is in the fully locked position. An audible "click" will be heard. Refer to Illustration 5.Note: Ensure that the plug connector latch tip is in a fully horizontal position in order for latch tip to be completely latched and locked with the cap assembly. Refer to Illustration 1.
By pushing the CPA toward the plug housing, it can be slid into the locked position in which it slides under the connector latch pad. Refer to Illustration 2.Disassembly of Connector
Damaged or misplaced contacts can be replaced on an individual basis. Refer to Illustration 2 and separate the connector and remove the contact by the following procedures:
Slide the CPA toward the rear (wire end) of the cap housing assembly to reveal the connector latch tip. Refer to Illustration 2.
Illustration 6 g01144188
Depress the end of the connector latch pad near the rear (wire end) of the plug housing. Continue to squeeze the latch pad and pull on the rear housing section to separate the mated connector assembly. Refer to Illustration 6.

(1) Cap Assembly (3) TPA (13) Removal Tool
Insert contact/TPA Removal Tool (or reasonable substitute) into the extraction tool slot in the plug or cap assembly TPA as shown in Illustration 7. Orient the removal tool so the notch in the tool is facing the centerline of the TPA. Hook the removal tool firmly against the edge of the slot and pull on the TPA until it is completely removed from the housing assembly. Retain the TPA for use with the connector assembly after the contacts are replaced.
Rotating the contacts in order to remove the contacts from the housing without using the extraction tool may damage the housing, resulting in reduced contact retention upon subsequent use of the housing.
Insert the tip of the contact extraction tool into the contact cavity and deflect the contact retention finger. Gently pull the wire until the contact is free from the housing. Repeat this procedure for the remaining number of contacts to be removed.Re-Assembly of Connector
Plug
Re-assembly of the plug after servicing a contact should be performed as follows:
Illustration 8 g01144296
Align the keying features of the TPA with the appropriate features in the plug housing and place the TPA locking fingers inside the plug housing. Refer to Illustration 8.Note: Single row plug assemblies are keyed by the location of the plug latching fingers. TPA fingers go on top of the contacts. Dual row plug assemblies have a "V" shaped notch inside the housing keys with a matching "V" shaped rib on the
