Remove the power pack. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Pack - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the transmission oil. The capacity of the transmission is 53 L (14 US gal).

Disconnect hose assembly (1) from transmission relief valve (2).

Remove three hose assemblies (4) from transmission and scavenge oil pump (6). Disconnect fluid tank (3) from bracket (5).

Remove five hose assemblies (7) from retarder control valve (8). Remove three hose assemblies from transmission sump (9).

Disconnect two hose assemblies (10) from hydraulic control valve (11).

Disconnect hose assembly (13) from lockup clutch and synchronizing valve (12).

Disconnect plug (14).

Disconnect tube assembly (15). Disconnect tube assembly (16).

Place Tooling (A) under the front of the engine.

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to transmission housing (17).
Remove bolts (18) from the engine and torque converter (19).
Remove the bolts from transmission mounting bracket (20).
Remove the transmission. The weight of the transmission is 750 kg (1655 lb).
