The brake pedal (5) is located on the floor of the operator's compartment. The first 25.4 to 50.8 mm (1 to 2 inches) of travel in the service brake pedal provides the inching operation. The remaining travel provides normal braking.The position sensor sends a signal to the machine ECM.

The lever (8) is welded to the brake pedal assembly. The lever is connected to the pushrod (9) on the master cylinder (10) .When the brake pedal (5) is pushed down, the shaft assembly (6) turns within the bearings (3) and the position sensor (A) sends a signal to the machine ECM. As the shaft (6) turns, the lever (8) pushes the pushrod of the master cylinder (9) downward. The downward movement of the pushrod operates the master cylinder (10). The master cylinder provides pressure to the service brakes when the service brake pedal is pressed. The amount of pressure that is seen at the brakes is determined by the pressure that is exerted on the service brake pedal. Position sensor (A) monitors the position of the brake pedal. The pump and the electrical signal will be adjusted accordingly. This causes the piston motor to upstroke destroke. The upstroking of the motor causes the speed of the machine to decrease. The destroking of the motor causes the speed of the machine to increase. When the master cylinder is depressed, oil also flows out of the master cylinder to the service brake on the front axle. As the shaft assembly (6) turns to activate the master cylinder (10), the switch (2) activates the brake lights.

The oil flows into a passage in the front axle (12). The oil pressure causes a piston that is inside the axle (15) to move. The brake discs inside the axle (13) are engaged between the pistons (15) and the axle housing (14) in order to slow the machine.When the brake pedal (5) is released, the spring (1) returns the brake pedal against the bumper (4). Braking forces are no longer applied because oil no longer goes through the master cylinder (10) to the front axle brakes (11). The pistons in the front axles (15) are forced apart with springs (16). The brake discs (13) are released and the shafts in the axles can rotate freely.
