MINI HYD EXCAVATOR,
Information:
This procedure is used in order to monitor a switch on the machine. Some typical examples are listed below:
Any switch that sends a signal directly to a warning indicator in the cab of a machine
A sensor that sends a signal to a relay switch
On existing switches, refer to the Electrical System Schematic for the machine. Determine the wire that is the ground wire and determine the wire that is the signal wire. Note: When you are adding a new switch to a machine, connect the ground wire from the switch to frame ground. Connect the signal wire from the sensor directly to the 8 Pin Connector on the wiring harness for the Product Link. Go directly to step 10.
Determine a suitable location for splicing into the existing signal wire. The recommended location is at an existing connector in the wiring harness.
Trace the wiring to the connector, or use the electrical schematic to determine the proper connector pin for the wire. On DT connectors, remove the wire with the 147-6456 Wedge Removal Tool .
Insert a 199-9785 Wire into the empty socket in the connector.
Use a 175-3700 Connector Repair Kit in order to create a 2-pin male DT connector on the two wires from 199-9785 Wire .
Use a 175-3700 Connector Repair Kit to create a receptacle for the 2-pin connector.
Connect the existing wire that was removed in step 3 into one socket in the receptacle.
Prepare an appropriate length of wire to run from the receptacle to the Product Link module. Connect one end of this wire into the second socket in the connector receptacle.
Connect the receptacle and plug together.

Run the wire that was prepared in step 8 to the 8 pin connector on the wiring harness for the Product Link. This harness is illustrated in Systems Operation, "System Components". Follow the recommended procedures for routing wiring that was explained in the installation of the Product Link module.
At the 8-Pin connector, connect the wire to the first available contact. The available contacts for the additional switched inputs are 3, 4, 6 and 7.
Connect the Electronic Technician (ET) to the machine. If you are unfamiliar with ET, see Troubleshooting, "Service Tools".
