Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the front swing drive and the front swing motor.
Check the condition of the O-ring seal that is used between the swing motor and the swing drive. Check the condition of the O-ring seals that are used in the ends of all the hose assemblies that are connected to the swing motor. If any of the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Fasten two lifting straps and a hoist to the front swing motor. Put the front swing motor in the original position on the front swing drive. Install bolts (5) and the washers. The weight of the front swing motor is 86 kg (190 lb).

Install U-bolt (4) to the bracket.

Connect hose assembly (3) to the left side of the front swing motor. Connect two hose assemblies (2) to the top of the front swing motor. Connect two hose assemblies (1) to the top right side of the front swing motor.
The swing motor must be filled with the correct oil prior to operation.Failure to maintain proper oil level in the swing motor may result in damage to the motor.
Check the oil level in the swing drive. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Swing Drive Oil Level - Check" for the correct level.
Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Refill Capacities" for the correct procedure.
Start the machine, and check the operation of the swing drive. Check all hoses and fittings for leaks.
