Prepare the machine for disassembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Preparation for Disassembly".
Remove the travel motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Power Train, "Travel Motor - Remove". Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Support the end of the pendulum arm cylinder with a suitable lifting device. Remove bolt (1).

Use Tooling (A) to remove pivot pin (2).
Raise the pendulum arm cylinder away from the pendulum arm. Retain the pendulum arm cylinder away from the pendulum arm.

Support the end of the pendulum arm with a suitable lifting device. Note: The rod end of the cylinder is padded in order to prevent marring of the painted surface of the machine.

Use the suitable lifting device to position the pendulum arm. Position the pendulum arm so that the bolts are visible in the access holes. Remove the bolts behind the pendulum arm.

Add an additional suitable lifting device to the pendulum arm.

Remove bolts (3). Remove the pendulum arm from the machine. The pendulum arm weighs approximately 410 kg (900 lb).
Remove the hose assemblies from the pendulum arm. Remove the pendulum arm from the machine.

Install Tooling (B) on the bearing. Support the bearing with a suitable lifting device.
Remove bolts (4). Remove the bearing from the pendulum arm. The weight of the bearing is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
